Closed-Loop Operations, From Alert to Action

Selector and Itential connect AI-driven observability to governed automated remediation. Detect anomalies, identify root cause, and execute remediation across multi-domain infrastructure, all in one closed loop with full auditability from first alert to final resolution.

Why It Matters

From AI Alert to Governed Action.

Selector + Itential together deliver an AI-powered, closed-loop solution that pairs real-time event detection with automated, policy-based remediation to resolve network issues instantly and automatically.

Current Challenges

Detection Is Solved. Remediation Is Still Manual.

Infrastructure teams have visibility into what’s breaking. They don’t have a fast, reliable path from detection to resolution. Even with observability in place, taking action means switching contexts, finding the right playbook, and escalating across teams. That manual chain is where SLAs slip, compliance exposure grows, and engineering hours get burned chasing fixes that should happen automatically.

  • Manual Handoffs Between Teams
Monitoring, ticketing, and remediation tools don’t talk to each other. Every handoff between them is a step where time is lost and errors are introduced.
  • Alert Noise Drowns Out Root Cause
Ops teams spend more time triaging hundreds of signals than resolving the actual incident, slowing response before users are ever impacted.
  • Every Ungoverned Fix Is a Compliance Risk
Without pre-checks, audit trails, or validated change records, manual remediation creates exposure that surfaces during audits, not before.
How It Works

Selector Sees It. Itential Fixes It. Closed-Loop Operations.

From the moment Selector fires the alert to the moment the action completes, in a single governed loop. Selector connects to Itential via REST API or the Itential MCP Server. A FlowAgent or governed workflow executes the action. Every step policy-governed, every action auditable, human approval enforced wherever you define it.

01 Selector Detects the Issue

Selector ingests telemetry and logs, identifies anomalies, correlates events, and pinpoints root cause. It triggers a FlowAgent or workflow on the Itential Platform via REST API or the Itential MCP Server, passing relevant context (IP address, device info, event payload).

02 Itential Routes to a FlowAgent or Workflow

Itential receives the trigger, returns a job ID, and routes execution to a FlowAgent (reasoning over context) or a governed workflow (deterministic execution).

03 ServiceNow Ticket Created

A ticket is automatically generated from Itential to ServiceNow to track the incident within existing ITSM processes.

04 Data Enrichment & Validation

Itential pulls in data from inventory tools like NetBox or other source-of-truth systems to gather context. It then runs pre-checks to validate the port status before making changes.

05 Governed Action Executed

Once validated, Itential executes the FlowAgent or workflow. In this example, a port reset.

06 Post-Check & Sync

Post-checks verify the port is restored. Itential updates inventory systems and closes the ServiceNow ticket with the final outcome.

07 Job Completion Notification

Either Itential notifies Selector that the job is complete, or Selector polls Itential to verify job status – maintaining full-loop visibility.

Joint Benefits

Everything You Need to Close the Loop

Selector and Itential each bring distinct, production-proven capabilities to the integration. Together, they cover every layer of the detect-to-resolve cycle, with the governance model enterprise infrastructure requires.

AI-Driven Event Detection

Selector cuts through alert noise, correlates anomalies, and fires a precise trigger – no manual triage before remediation begins.

Governed Closed-Loop Remediation

Itential executes automatically with RBAC, approval gates at thresholds you define, and a full audit trail – human-in-the-loop or human-on-the-loop, your call.

Faster MTTR

From hours of manual investigation to minutes of governed automated resolution. Every time, without sacrificing auditability.

Icon - Scale
Enterprise-Ready Scale

Built for high-volume, compliance-heavy environments – telco, enterprise IT, and hybrid cloud – where failure is not an option.

Policy-Based Governance

Every remediation passes through pre/post validation, rollback safeguards, and a complete audit log – agent-initiated or human-initiated.

Multi-Domain Orchestration

One governed execution path across network, cloud, and ITSM – however many domains the incident touches.

Itential + Selector

Built for How Modern Infrastructure Teams Operate

Whether you’re running telco networks, enterprise IT, or hybrid cloud infrastructure, Selector and Itential are built for the scale, complexity, and governance requirements you’re managing today, and the agentic operations model you’re building toward.

About Itential

Agentic Operations for Infrastructure, Governed at Every Step

Itential is the agentic infrastructure operations platform, connecting AI reasoning to deterministic execution across network, cloud, and IT systems. When Selector identifies an issue, Itential receives the signal via REST API or MCP, routes it to the appropriate FlowAgent or workflow, and executes remediation through a single policy-governed engine. Every action validated. Every change attributed. Human approval enforced wherever you define it.

  • MCP & API Connectivity
Selector connects to Itential via REST API or the Itential MCP Server, giving any AI-generated signal a governed execution path without custom integration work.
  • FlowAgent-Driven Remediation
FlowAgents receive the Selector trigger, reason through current infrastructure state, select the right remediation workflow, and execute, with human-in-the-loop approval above configured thresholds.
  • Multi-Domain, Multi-Tool Orchestration
Coordinate across Cisco, Juniper, Arista, AWS, Azure, and ServiceNow, natively running Ansible, Python, Terraform, and OpenTofu without rework.

Frequently Asked Questions

+

The Itential + Selector integration connects AI-powered observability with governed agentic infrastructure operations. When Selector detects an anomaly and identifies root cause, it triggers Itential via REST API or the Itential MCP Server. A FlowAgent or governed workflow executes remediation across network, cloud, and IT domains with no manual intervention required. Every action validated, every change auditable, human approval enforced at the thresholds you define.

+

Closed-loop automation means detection and resolution happen in a single automated cycle with no manual handoffs. Selector detects the problem and pinpoints root cause. Itential receives the signal via MCP or API, routes it to the right FlowAgent or workflow, executes validated remediation, updates inventory, closes the ITSM ticket, and confirms the outcome. The loop closes automatically, with a complete audit trail from first alert to final resolution.

+

When Selector identifies an incident, it sends a structured trigger, including IP address, device info, and event context, to Itential via REST API or the Itential MCP Server. Itential routes that payload to the appropriate FlowAgent or remediation workflow and initiates execution. A ServiceNow ticket is automatically created in parallel, so incident tracking aligns with existing ITSM processes from the start.

+

Yes. Itential automatically creates and closes ServiceNow tickets as part of the remediation workflow. It also pulls enrichment data from NetBox and other source-of-truth systems during execution, and updates inventory after every automated change. The integration is built to work within your existing stack, not replace it.

+

Every action in the Itential + Selector integration flows through Itential’s policy-governed execution engine before anything touches infrastructure. FlowAgents operate within explicitly defined tool allowlists, nothing outside that scope is callable at runtime. Pre-checks validate conditions. Rollback is always available. Human-in-the-loop approval gates apply at thresholds you configure per operation type. A complete audit log captures every step from detection to resolution.

+

The Itential + Selector integration is built for high-volume, distributed environments, including telco networks, enterprise IT, and hybrid cloud infrastructure. Itential orchestrates across multi-vendor network (Cisco, Juniper, Arista), cloud (AWS, Azure), and ITSM (ServiceNow, Jira) domains. Selector is designed for carrier-grade scale, handling complex telemetry volumes typical of large enterprises and service providers.
